This apartment over four floors was completely refurbished for an art collector client. The challenge of the project was to reconcile the requirement to provide comfortable domestic spaces with the desire to create a ‘gallery’ environment for the display of works of art. The refined simplicity of the architectural response was underpinned by a muted palette of natural materials. French-polished oak joinery, polished limestone and marble and fabric were used to create a sequence of light and dark spaces around a polished plaster stair core.
